Power Sliding a Car

Power sliding a car is not very extreme as drifting during which the car slides around a turn losing its traction with the road. ‘Drifting light’ is also known as power slide as the driver slides his car out of an exit making the tires losing their grip? An empty parking space or private road can help to learn doing the power slide technique.

Step 1
Use a curve or a turn for entering as a normal speed allowing the car’s peak part to hit at a safe predicted speed.

Step 2
Push the vehicle’s throttle as it passes its peak and the curve starts straightening out. The steering wheel has to be turned at the same time into the same direction of the curve until it is felt that the wheels are starting to lose their traction with the road.

Step 3
this step can be continued on the gas as slides laterally out of the curve. The nose of the car must be aimed at the straight portion of the road ahead.

Step 4
once the nose of the car is pointed in the right direction, the foot should be removed from the throttle. The throttle can be applied again after the car regains traction on the road’s surface. It must be noted that the car can spin out of control if the foot is not removed from the gas pedal at the right moment.

Step 5
the gas can be reapplied once the car faces the right direction and the tires have gained traction again. From that point, continue to the straightaway.

Step 6
the power sliding technique can be continued to practice if there are any problems with the car regarding over steering and inward spinning. An empty parking lot can be used. Because every car is different, it is needed to learn at what specific point the car will lose traction on the road.

Tips & Warnings

- The power slide technique must be practiced a lot before attempting to learn the drift technique which is more dangerous.
- The road’s surface can be made wet to make the car easy to slide for doing power sliding technique.
