SCC: Eric Lux sponsor news 2010-05-27

Monticello Motor Club, an automobile country club and resort lifestyle, is sponsoring the Grand-Am driver Eric Lux for the remainder of the 2010 racing season. Lux, 22, of Jacksonville, Florida, is a veteran of the Grand-Am racing, competing in Continental Grand-Am Sports Car Tire Challenge Series and Rolex Series GT season. The sponsorship kicks off with doubleheader this weekend at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Lime Rock Park,” said Lux. ”I have not raced there since 2008, but had a podium in 2007 in the Rolex Series with Tafel Racing. I met Ari Straus in Monticello last summer while coaching some of the members, and I was very impressed with the installation. It is an honor bearing the mark of MMC for the rest of the season. At Lime Rock, I will be co-driving with Rob Jackowitz at # 24 Monticello Motor Club BMW, and I know it will be a great teammate. I will also compete with # 28 LG Motorsports Corvette in Rolex GT this weekend. It would be nice to return to Lime Rock and exit with two podiums.

Since winning his first karting championship in 2001, Lux has been on the fast track. In 2005, Lux was the first driver in 16 years of age to take the checkered flag in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and has continued to make his mark in the series since the debut impressive finishes high 19 to 16 podiums. He continues to show his ability to race for podium performances in a wide variety of cars and series. After graduating from karts, Lux has competed in 23 different race cars. Eric bio racing continues to grow with 17 wins in just the last two seasons.

The V-Pack Motorsports BMW 330i, sponsored by Monticello Motor Club, has proved a strong and reliable car in the previous races, and I suspect the will be very competitive car at Lime Rock.

“We’ve been following Eric’s career for some time,” said Ari Straus, president of the club. ”It’s a very talented rider and a great person who always takes time for the fans. Eric is a perfect fit for the Monticello Motor Club. And we are also pleased to Rob, who is one of our members, the opportunity career in one of the most competitive series in North America. The members of our club go from beginners and without experience of driving on the track careers; they share a love of motorsport.
